Robinhood Crypto Review
Robinhood added cryptocurrency trading in 2018 as an extension of its commission-free stock brokerage. The platform is aimed at retail investors who want a simple, all-in-one app for stocks and crypto. By 2024, Robinhood Crypto was available in all 50 US states.
There are no explicit trading fees, but Robinhood earns revenue through order flow (spread between buy and sell prices). The selection covers about 20 major cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, Solana, and several stablecoins.
Robinhood launched crypto wallets in 2022, allowing users to send and receive crypto to external addresses. Previously, users could only buy and sell but not withdraw coins. This was a major limitation for experienced crypto users, though it has now been resolved for US users.
